These 400mm 200N gas struts are suitable for lids around 20–36kg when installed correctly. Actual lift performance depends on hinge position, lid material and mounting geometry.
Recommended Mounting Position
- Install one strut on each side of the lid.
- Mount the upper bracket approximately 20–30% down from the hinge line on the lid panel.
- Mount the lower L bracket approximately 150–300mm below the top inside edge of the box frame (adjust to suit internal depth and clearance).
- Ensure the strut is slightly compressed when fully closed to maintain preload tension.
⚠ Force guidance: If the lid is heavier than 36kg, a higher force rating may be required. If the lid is lighter than 20kg, the struts may feel too strong.
